An internal error has occurred with CodeMeter while applying or creating license for Agile Designer

Issue:

When applying or creating the license for Agile Designer, I am getting the following error message:

Error: An internal error has occurred. Please try again later.

Environment:
CA Agile Requirements Designer (ARD)- Agile Designer
Cause:

This error message is typically caused by the following:

  • Missing license container.
    • If you have no license containers in CodeMeter Control Center (CC), you will need to import the 'AgileDesigner' license container. 

  • Incorrect license container.
    • The user creates the license request file using the wrong license container.
    • Users will need to create the license with the 'AgileDesigner' license container.
    • Some common license containers that are incorrectly used are 'AgileDesignerUnb', 'AgileDesigner-Trial', or 'AgileDesigner-Offline'.
    • If you have any of these in CodeMeterCC, you will need to delete them. 
Resolution:

To check to see if you have a missing or incorrect license container, please do the following:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin.

  2. Locate 'CodeMeterCC.exe', right-click, and choose 'Run as administrator'.

  3. In the CodeMeter Control Center window, check under the 'License' tab.
    • If you are missing a license container, you will see nothing listed.

    • If you have an incorrect license container, you see containers like this: 'AgileDesignerUnb', 'AgileDesigner-Trial', or 'AgileDesigner-Offline'.

If you are missing a license container, please do the following:

  1. Import the AgileDesigner license container into CodeMeterCC.
  2. Continue with license application process or create a new license request file for the licensing team.

  3. Once you have applied the license key, launch Agile Designer. If you are able to see the 'Welcome' page in your ARD instance, you have successfully applied the license. 

 

If you have an incorrect license container, please do the following:

  1. Delete the incorrect license container(s).
  2. Import the AgileDesigner license container into CodeMeterCC.
  3. Continue with license application process or create a new license request file for the licensing team.

  4. Once you have applied the license key, launch Agile Designer. If you are able to see the 'Welcome' page in your ARD instance, you have successfully applied the license.
