Question: 

WHAT IS AGENT TECHNOLOGY and am I using it?

Environment:  

z/OS, CA COMMON SERVICES 14.1

 

Answer: 

Agent Technology Common Services is delivered as a component/fmid 

as part of CA Common Services for z/OS.

It runs in conjunction with USS (Unix System Services)...

 

The manager for AGENT TECHNOLOGY is delivered via CA COMMON SERVICES for Windows or UNIX (known as NSM).

NSM/MGR, must be installed on there is no need/purpose for

mainframe agents... There is no Mainframe Manager.

 

This is where the information (from the mainframe agent activity/things

they are monitoring) are done.

 

For system activities of different types, you would need to have licenses

for mainframe agents (CICS, DB2) to name a few.

 

To see if AGENT TECHNOLOGY is active on the mainframe,

 

ACCESS OMVS and issue command:

If you do not see

 

Aws_sadmin

Aws_orb

 

AT is not running.
