Question:
What are the requirements for the PeopleSoft ERP agent to operate within PeopleSoft?  Is a reverse proxy with a regular web agent, or Access Gateway (formerly Secure Proxy Server) required?
Environment:
Single Sign on version: any
OS: Any
Answer:
It is a requirement to have a web agent in front of the PeopleSoft instance, either regular web agent like on Apache, or SPS which is now called Access Gateway. The PeopleSoft ERP agent reads headers set by the web agent in front of it, the PeopleSoft ERP agent does not read the SMSESSION cookie directly.

Attempting to use the WebLogic ASA agent would not work, as this only secures things at the WebLogic app server level - not the PeopleSoft application level... and also the ASA agent does not set the same HTTP headers in the request that is required by the ERP agent... so layering agents in that manner would not work.
