Agent consuming large virtual memory

Issue:
Agent consumes large virtual Memory, around 1GB in resident (RSS) & over 40GB virtual (VSZ) memory.
This behavior is seen immediately after the agent service is started.

CA Release Automation  6.4.0.10011 
Operating system : Linux version 2.6.32-696.18.7.el6.x86_64 
Cause:
This issue occurs when the agent heap size is set high (Configurable in /ReleaseAutomationAgent/conf/wrapper.conf)

# Initial Java Heap Size (in MB)
wrapper.java.initmemory=512
# Maximum Java Heap Size (in MB)
wrapper.java.maxmemory=4096


 
Resolution:
Lowering the heap size xms to 128 and xmx to 512
