Description:

After defining TCP/IP line with TYPE=SOCKET, IDMS Startup fails with:

DC088000 #SOCKET ERRNO=00000156 message followed by a DC088000 V51 T15 Plug-in initialization failed messages after IDMS upgrade?

How can these SOCKET messages be interpreted and how to resolve them?

Solution:

The DC088000 V42 T56 #SOCKET ...ERRNO=00000156 error indicates a definition problem with the OMVS userid definition in TCP/IP possibly in your external security system or that OMVS is not defined.

On z/OS & OS/390, support for TCP/IP is implemented using UNIX System Service kernel functions. The userid under which the central version runs should be granted access to these functions.

Depending on the security set up on your system, this might require that the userid has an OMVS segment defined.

For more information, refer to the documentation of the security package on your system.

The above info is the 17.0 SP0 System Operations Guide 4.3.1.1.

Prerequisites.

If you have TOP SECRET DCA authority issue TSS LIST(userid) Data(ALL) and you should see a OMVS segment for the userid.
