Adding WF Task Assignee to a Classic Workflow Task Notification Template

Summary:

You may come across a case where you would want to display the assignee for a classic Workflow Task on a notification message template for a workflow task notification.  At first it may seem fairly simple looking at the "attribute alias" list as most folks will choose the "chg.assignee.combo_name" - however, that is not correct as that attribute is the assignee combo name of the assignee on the change order itself, and not on the workflow tasks attached to that change order.

Environment:

CA Service Desk Manager (all versions)

Solution:

Being that the notification is already coming from the Workflow object, you don't need to specify the object at all, but rather just the field name.  So to display the Workflow Task Assignee on a notification template, as long as it is a Workflow Task notification that is being used, you would simply use the attribute of "assignee.combo_name" which will display the assignee of the task as that is the object we are sending the notification for.
