ADA Collector service stops on a VMware host

PROBLEM:

Customer installed the ADA Collector on a VMware host. After having configured it into the ADA Management Console and try to start the ADA Monitor on the ADA Collector, the Network Adapter on the ADA Collector Window Server will stop.

In the Windows Event Log, under System Log:

16:21:47 ADA Monitor Stopped Unexpectedly....will restart in 300000millisecond

 

SACollectorErrors log displays the following error:

SOLUTION:

The most typical cause of this problem is that Wireshark or other packet capture monitoring tool is installed on the ADA Collector. The pcap libraries installed with these applications overwrite the ADA Collector packet capture drives. To resolve this problem you will need to uninstall Wireshark/Winpcap.

For collectors installed in a VMware machine that encounter the problem described above and no packet capture software is or was ever installed, please try to change the network adapter of the machine to VMXNET3. For more information on this please consult the VMware article below:
