Environment 11.3 SP1 Agent

Problem:  11.3 SP1 Agent installation stuck at sock adapter on AIX 6.1 machines

The java version is 64 bit which caused this install failure. This java version is not compatible for the installation of agent.

Make the following changes (Temporary. NOT permanent) in the putty session.

Here the Autosys installation media is in /backup/autosys/...

Autosys provides JRE 32bit version on the installation media

Set JAVA_HOME variable:

$export JAVA_HOME=/backup/autosys/WAAE_AIX/AIX/JRE/1.5.0/sdk/jre

Set PATH variable:

$export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin;$PATH

Now we got 32bit java version which is supported by the install file.

$java -version

java version "1.6.0"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build pap3260sr10-20111208_01(SR10)) IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, JRE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 AIX ppc-32

jvmap3260sr10-20111207_96808 (JIT enabled, AOT enabled)

J9VM - 20111207_096808

JIT  - r9_20111107_21307ifx1

GC   - 20110519_AA)

JCL  - 20111104_02

After the above process, make sure 'java -version' displays 32 bit java

Run: ./wa_setup.sh

When the Welcome panel displays, open another telnet session and log in to the same AIX machine as root.

On the new telnet session, run: cd /tmp

Run: vi .ssa_javaloc

This is the file that contains location for java files needed by the install binary.

Edit the line that reads "<dvd.root.directory>/AIX/JRE/1.5.0" to "<dvd.root.directory>/AIX/JRE/1.5.0/sdk/jre"

Save the file. Go back to the AE install and run through the interview.
